Job Summary
The Business Analyst will support the Finance Business Partner in delivering financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, performance reporting, and business analysis across various business units.
The successful candidate will work closely with finance teams, business units, IT, risk management, and other stakeholders to provide accurate financial insights, monitor business performance, develop financial models, and support strategic initiatives that drive the bank's objectives.
This role requires excellent analytical ability, financial reporting expertise, and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
As a Business Analyst, your responsibilities will include:
Financial Planning & Analysis
Support the Finance Business Partner in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
Perform financial analysis, variance analysis, and trend analysis to support informed business decisions.
Develop financial models and business cases for new products, strategic initiatives, and business projects.
Monitor business performance and recommend opportunities for improvement.
Financial Reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports.
Assist in producing reports required by senior management and regulatory authorities.
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Performance Management
Identify, monitor, and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Generate business performance scorecards.
Track departmental and business unit performance.
Communicate scorecards to end users.
Facilitate performance review meetings and business performance discussions.
Budget Management
Support the preparation and implementation of business budgets.
Cascade approved budgets to business groups, teams, relationship managers, and operational units.
Monitor budget performance and expenditure.
Business Support
Gather, validate, and analyze financial and operational data.
Prepare customer profitability reports for Relationship Managers upon request.
Collaborate with business units to improve operational efficiency.
Support strategic decision-making through financial analysis.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Work closely with Finance, IT, Risk Management, and other support departments.
Resolve issues relating to Management Information Systems (MIS), budgeting, expense control, and performance reporting.
Deliver training and awareness sessions on scorecards and performance initiatives.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, banking regulations, and corporate policies.
Maintain confidentiality and security of all business information.
Perform additional responsibilities assigned by the Finance Business Partner or Head of Finance.
Educational Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
A First Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Science, or Engineering.
A Master's Degree will be an added advantage.
Professional qualifications such as:
ACA
CIBN
ICAN
ACCA
or other recognized Accounting or Finance certifications.
Experience & Skills
To be considered for this role, candidates should have:
A minimum of 6 years' relevant work experience.
Practical experience in:
Financial Planning
Budgeting
Forecasting
Finance
Accounting
Management Information Systems (MIS)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Working knowledge of SQL and other analytics tools.
